Instrument
Flight Training
For most pilots, the next step after completing their
Private Pilot training is to obtain an Instrument Rating.
This allows a pilot to fly by Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).
The instrument training offers a unique challenge to the
student that can be very rewarding and allows for an
increased margin of safety and knowledge when operating in
weather conditions that do not allow flight by Visual Flight
Rules (VFR). Also, by utilizing our Full Motion Redbird FXM
AATD, you can reduce your training costs.
Instrument Rating Part 61
As with the Private Pilot Course, the Instrument Course also
incorporates flight instruction, ground instruction and
computer based training. The instrument course can be
completed in any of our aircraft.
The FAA flight requirements to obtain an Instrument Rating
are a minimum of 40 hours of flight time. This flight time
includes a minimum of 15 hours of dual instruction and 25
hours flight time with a qualified safety pilot. In
addition, the person seeking the instrument rating must also
have logged 50 hrs of pilot in command cross country time.
Third Coast Aviation also offers an accelerated
instrument program.
